Our Functional Wood Canoe Paddles allow you to travel across the water in style and comfort all while displaying the beautiful designs that are a Holz Canoe Paddle. Each of our Wood Canoe Paddles are hand crafted and meticulously designed for the best combination of strength, durability, balance, weight, and style using hand selected Red Cedar stock. You can design your own paddle from our many feature options and each is then made one at a time for a unique, one of a kind paddle.

Strength & Durability

All functional wood canoe paddles have a 5 piece laminate shaft and a laminate blade that includes a hardwood blade tip. The canoe paddle blade has a clear epoxy coat over the top of 4 oz. fiberglass cloth on both sides for strength, abrasion resistance, and protection. Our solid epoxy blade tip guard is then added to protect the bottom tip of the paddle from wear and damage. The entire canoe paddle is then covered with multiple coats of marine grade, UV resistant polyurethane for long lasting use and beauty.

Light Weight

By using laminating technologies, we are able to the the superior strength and resistance to splitting as well as the ability to use lighter weight wood which makes Holz Canoe Paddles Wood Paddles less than half the weight of some conventional wood canoe paddles. With total weights as low as 14 oz. (depending on style) you can paddle longer and with less fatigue. On a long day's paddle of up to 16,000 strokes, this can add up to as much as 20,000 extra pounds of lifting in just 1 day!

Balance

With our hand crafted wood canoe paddles, no details are overlooked, and a major detail often overlooked by mass produced canoe paddles is balance. A properly balanced canoe paddle will allow for a more efficient transfer of energy and allow you to paddle with a more even work load and less stress and fatigue on your shoulders. A wood canoe paddle that is properly balanced is a joy to use.

Flexibility

Our laminated wood canoe paddles offer excellent flexibility. It is ideal to have a bit of flexibility in the canoe paddle blade to help cushion a days worth of paddle strokes. By using flexible cedar for the paddle and a covering of epoxy and fiberglass, our wooden canoe paddles allow for just enough flexibility to help reduce the stress and fatigue from paddling all day long.

The laminating technique allows for the combination of multiple colors and grains of wood to be used, and when combined, create a gorgeous mosaic of beauty and brawn.
